DxE’s first-ever investigation of a Sprouts’ cage-free farm found horrifying cruelty. Ask the CEO of Sprouts to stop calling this violence humane.
The DxE Colorado Open Rescue team entered a massive cage-free farm and found widespread starvation, disease, and death. Hens were packed into filthy, industrial sheds where access to food was a constant struggle. Hundreds of hens would starve to death every single week.
Annie was weaker than her sisters, and she couldn’t compete in the fight for food. Eventually, she had to resort to eating from the feces-covered ground.
Frail and diseased, her beak was sealed shut by dried feces, and she languished without water for days.
Annie was about to join countless other birds who die inside Morning Fresh, but she was one in a million who would be saved.
Annie now lives safe with a family of humans, chickens, and dogs - her body will be exploited for profit no more.
Like all animals, Annie has a unique personality - she loves to explore and play with Rosie the dog.
Annie knows that her family will protect her. In her capacity to feel, and to love, Annie is just like us.
Annie was incredibly lucky to be saved, and now lives in the care of her rescuers. Unfortunately, thousands of hens just like her still languish and need our help. Take action now!
